Exterior
Finished in classic Diamond Black, this 1986 325i Sport presents very well throughout and looks fantastic with the original M-Tech I bodykit. The paintwork retains a deep, glossy shine following a recent professional detail, with only a few light age-related marks visible upon close inspection – entirely in keeping with its age. At the front of the car, the headlights and grilles are undamaged, and the rear light clusters are also perfect with no cracks or signs of moisture ingress; the Shadowline trim is also first-rate. Complementing the exterior perfectly are the original 15-inch cross-spoke BBS alloy wheels, all in superb condition. They are fitted with new centre badges and wrapped in quality Continental tyres.
Interior
The interior presents just as impressively, trimmed in classic black leather that remains in excellent condition for its age, with a supple feel and only minimal signs of use. Within the footwells you’ll still find the genuine BMW overmats. A period-correct Blaupunkt New York radio sits neatly in place, perfectly complementing the car’s 1980s character, while heated seats add a touch of comfort and practicality. The dashboard is notably free from cracks – an increasingly rare feature – and all switchgear is in good order, operating exactly as it should. Common wear points such as the steering wheel, gear knob, and handbrake are all remarkably tidy, aligning well with the car’s low mileage of just 45k.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Under the bonnet sits the lauded 2.5-litre M20 straight-six, delivering the silky-smooth performance these cars are celebrated for. The engine pulls cleanly and eagerly with a superb soundtrack. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a switchable 4-speed automatic gearbox and a limited-slip differential. For added peace of mind, the car has recently been inspected by our trusted local workshop who also fitted a new starter motor. The engine and transmission perform exactly as they should, making this a well-sorted and highly usable retro classic.
First registered in August 1986 and supplied by Derek Woodman Ltd, this stunning 325i has had just three keepers from new, with the current owner since 2019. It has covered only 45k miles from new. Within the accompanying paperwork is the original BMW document pack including the owner’s manual and service booklet. In 2020, at 43k miles, the car underwent over £3,300 worth of work by BMW specialists, Classic Heroes. This included an Inspection II service, replacement fuel hoses, seat frame repair, new brake hoses, new discs and pads all round, replacement differential mounting, new fuel pump mounts, a new electric aerial, and more.
