The Aston Martin Cygnet stands as one of the most unusual and controversial models in the marque’s history, conceived in the late 2000s as a response to tightening European emissions regulations and increasing urban congestion. With a range dominated by high-performance grand tourers, Aston Martin needed a low-emissions vehicle to balance its fleet averages, leading to the creation of a compact luxury city car. Introduced in 2011 at a price exceeding £30,000, the Cygnet was met with surprise, though in hindsight it can be seen as ahead of its time in attempting to merge premium craftsmanship with small-car practicality.
Based on the Toyota iQ, the Cygnet utilised a well-engineered and compact platform, which Aston Martin transformed through extensive bespoke enhancements. While its 1.3-litre engine and modest performance remained largely unchanged, the focus was on luxury, with a redesigned exterior and a meticulously crafted interior featuring hand-stitched leather and high-end materials. Comfortable, refined, and well-suited to city driving, it offered a unique ownership experience despite limited sales, leading to its discontinuation in 2013. Today, its rarity and distinct character have earned it a loyal following, marking it as a fascinating and unconventional chapter in Aston Martin’s history.
First registered in 2011, this right-hand drive Aston Martin Cygnet was supplied new by Aston Martin Edinburgh and is believed to be one of approximately 150 UK-delivered examples. Finished in striking Q Special Metallic ‘Silver Fox’ over a vibrant Spicy Red duotone leather interior, it perfectly showcases the model’s bespoke character and craftsmanship.
This example is equipped with the desirable six-speed manual gearbox and benefits from an excellent specification, including perforated seats, Cirrus Grey Alcantara headlining, Obsidian Black heavyweight carpeting, 16-inch 8-spoke graphite diamond-turned alloy wheels and a Dark Chrome interior finish complemented by Piano Black trim.
Having covered just over 8,000 miles from new, the car presents in exceptional condition throughout. It is accompanied by a full Aston Martin main dealer service history, along with its original handbook pack, a comprehensive file of invoices and MOT certificates, and two sets of keys.
A rare and highly collectible example of one of Aston Martin’s most unconventional creations, this Cygnet would make a superb addition to any collection while serving as a stylish and practical companion for daily and urban driving. Contact us now for more information or to arrange a viewing.
