Ford’s long awaited ‘droop snoot’ RS 2000 was launched at the Earls Court show of October 1975. It was the most luxurious of the sporting Escorts of the time. Powered by an updated version of the 2.0-litre OHC Pinto unit, with a four into two exhaust manifolds coupled to a big bore exhaust system it produced 110bhp. This propelled the RS2000 from 0-60mph in just 8.5 secs and onto a top speed of 110mph.
The 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 Custom offered here at Autostorico is finished in its original Signal Yellow with Black cloth interior trim. First registered on 7th November 1979 to Currie Motors, Kingston on Thames as their demonstrator. Passing to David Loxton in May 1980.
