A developed Lotus Elite FIA eligible race car with continuous use, recent engine build and wide event access. Competitive, usable and ready for immediate historic racing.
Few cars capture the intent of lightweight British racing engineering quite like the Lotus Elite, and EB2027 stands as a credible, well-used example. Previously issued with FIA papers, it has been campaigned consistently, most recently by John Waterson through to and including the 2025 season. It is not a static car, but one that has been understood and developed through proper use.
Acquired from Italy in 2013, it has remained in knowledgeable family ownership and benefited from the care of an experienced engineer-driver. The progression is evident, with continuous refinement and attention to detail resulting in a car that is presented to a high and consistent standard.
Mechanically, EB2027 reflects a focused and current specification. The Coventry Climax FWB engine, built by David Whitehurst Racing in 2025, incorporates a new Hoole cylinder block, steel crankshaft, Arrow H-beam rods and forged Omega pistons, running at 12.3:1 compression. Further specification includes a CNC alloy cam carrier, DWR camshaft, stainless valves and twin Weber 40 carburettors.
The drivetrain is equally well considered, with a DWR straight-cut close ratio MGA gearbox featuring upgraded internals, alongside an EWR-built differential with new casing, 4.875 ratio and strengthened shafts. The engine has seen limited use since rebuild.
With FIA HTP papers previously in place and ready for renewal, EB2027 sits firmly within Appendix K Period E GT regulations. It is immediately suited to the FIA Lurani Trophy, where the Lotus Elite is a proven competitive platform. The level of preparation positions this example as a genuine front-running candidate.
It is equally well suited to the HSCC Guards Trophy and Masters Gentlemen Drivers series, offering a complete and competitive package without the need for further development.
On track, the Elite remains defined by its low weight, balance and responsiveness, and in this specification delivers consistent and capable performance. Beyond championship racing, it is well suited to leading historic events including Goodwood, subject to invitation.
This is a properly developed and usable Lotus Elite, ready for immediate competition. Enquiries are invited to discuss the car in detail or arrange a viewing.
