Chassis 01252 is one of the earliest Right Hand Drive Ferrari Dino 246 GTs, fully documented, with recent mechanical works, complete history, and ready to drive.
Chassis 01252 is possibly one of the very first RHD M-series Ferrari Dino 246 GTs delivered—or perhaps more accurately, personally collected. The first custodian, Dudley Mason-Styrron, part-exchanged a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona in 1970 to secure the Dino. He placed the order on 10th June 1970 and travelled to Maranello on 9th December to collect the car personally. The accompanying history file includes extensive documentation from that trip, which is exceptionally detailed.
Shortly after, in March 1971, Dudley was offered over list price for the car by Sean Bealy, Managing Director of Maranello Concessionaires, and accepted. By August 1978, the Dino was sold to Mrs Griggs for £5,900. Her ownership lasted 19 years, during which the car spent some time in France. Records confirm the registration BHJ 229J, which the car still carries today.
In 1994, Valentine Christensen became the next custodian, taking delivery with 55,374 miles recorded. By 23rd July 1997, the car was with Kent High Performance Cars, being prepared for a Dino concours event. The file shows substantial expenditure under Mrs Griggs, including interior retrim, full body rebuild at 45,000 miles, and a top-end engine rebuild at 54,000 miles.
During the final 12 years of her ownership, the car covered just 5,000 miles, partly prompted by the failure of electric windows. Valentine Christensen added around 5,000 miles, maintaining meticulous care through Omega Motorsport. Milage currently sits at around 60,000 miles.
The current custodian acquired the car on retirement in 2024. Before sale, the car was fully serviced, including brake fluid replacement and fitted with new correct pattern Midchain XWX tyres, ensuring it is ready to be used and enjoyed.
Chassis 01252 was re-trimmed when the body work was repainted at around 45,000 miles, and now has practical and stylish black with black interior. The panel fit is tidy with even shut-lines, and the doors open and close beautifully.
The window motors still function correctly, and looking along the sill line, the correct kick-down ahead of the rear wheel is present. The dashboard has been re-trimmed, as the original mouse-hair material was not available at the time.
The car’s history shows meticulous care: interior retrim, full body rebuild, and top-end engine rebuild were all carried out under previous ownership. Mileage is well-documented throughout.
During the Griggs tenure, only 5,000 miles were covered in the final 12 years, and Valentine Christensen added a further 5,000 miles. Prior to sale, the car was fully serviced, including brake fluid replacement, and fitted with new correct pattern Midchain XWX tyres.
On British roads, the Dino drives exactly as it should, riding well with no unpleasant knocks and confident, even braking.
Upon warming, the Dino drives smoothly and predictably. The car presents beautifully, is rot-free, and has been lightly used for everyday enjoyment, including school-run trials to test handling.
This early RHD Ferrari Dino 246 GT represents a unique opportunity to acquire a highly documented, genuinely usable classic.
