Bright and breezy with 100% chance of sunshine.
This charming yellow US supplied Targa has captured the attention of everyone here at Williams Crawford. The way it looks, the way it drives – it has real presence.
Offering truly turn-key classic Porsche ownership without the wait, benefiting from an extensive three-and-a-half-years, £75,000+ restoration and rebuild. Fully sorted and ready to enjoy immediately, this 911 is summer-ready and waiting.
A matching numbers 1970 2.2 ‘S’, believed to originate from California, the car arrived in the UK in early 1990 and was quickly snapped up by a gent who owned and cherished it for the next 31 years. During this time it was carefully maintained, regularly serviced and driven sparingly on special occasions, averaging just a few hundred miles each year.
Acquired by a new owner in September 2021, work began immediately on a detailed restoration and refurbishment of the bodywork, running gear, engine and interior. A substantial history file documents the process, with invoices and receipts tracking the progress over the following months and years, complemented by a photographic record of the restoration.
Today the car is finished in its original factory shade of Light yellow (code 62) with the instantly recognisable brushed stainless roll over hoop, wearing 15 inch Fuchs and gold ‘PORSCHE’ and ‘911 S’ badges.
Removing the reconditioned Targa roof panel reveals a well-appointed interior, featuring a leather-trimmed steering wheel and a full set of salt and pepper carpets. The Recaro Sports seats are finished in supple black leather, perfectly reflecting the original basketweave details of the dash front and door cards. A period correct Becker Europa Kurier radio completes the picture.
On the road, all the hard work and attention to detail quickly become clear. This is a fabulous 911 to drive. The sweet singing 2.2 features SSI heat exchangers with a Dansk silencer – fire it into life and you are rewarded with an unmistakable early 911 soundtrack. Select first gear on the dog-leg 5-speed manual ‘box, and away you go. It’s smooth, responsive and very, very enjoyable, especially on a sunny day with the roof off.
