1957 Porsche 356 A (T1) Speedster by Reutter.
Our resident 356 authority, Graham Kidd, inspected this example in depth and gave it a firm thumbs-up — high praise indeed. Adrian drove the car and described it as one of the best 356s he has experienced. Even the doors close with that unmistakable, correct ‘chunk’.
Provenance, restoration quality, attention to detail and overall driving cohesion have a significant influence on desirability, value and long-term enjoyment.
This Speedster is not inexpensive, but on close inspection we believe it fully justifies its position.
Factory Kardex records confirm chassis 83032 was completed on 22nd March 1957 and delivered via Porsche dealer Krauss of Nürnberg. It was first supplied to a US serviceman stationed in Germany.
The Kardex further notes a factory engine replacement in May 1958, exchanged like-for-like with the correct Type 616/1 unit from the period. The engine was rebuilt in the UK in 2017 and uprated to 1,720cc. Transmission number and original colour combination correspond with the Kardex.
