1997 Porsche 993 Targa

A Zenith moment in air-cooled Porsche: a rare-colour 993 Targa.

We supplied this fabulous Targa back in December 2018, with the owner returning to us for regular servicing throughout his ownership, despite covering fewer than 4,000 miles per year. The most recent service was completed in March 2025 at 103,300 miles, representing the 24th service in this car’s impressive history, with no fewer than 18 carried out by Porsche main dealers.

Originally supplied in November 1996, it is a 1997 model and features the Varioram 3.6 litre air cooled flat 6 driving the rear wheels via the 4 speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.

Finished in its factory-applied Zenith blue metallic (L3AX), confirmed by the original option sticker, this visually striking hue was specified far less often than the more familiar 993 colours. Zenith Blue is an exceptionally rare choice on the model and is particularly seldom seen on UK-supplied Targa variants.

Factory-correct 17 inch Targa alloys, rear wiper, air conditioning, Porsche CDR-22 radio/CD, and a superb Marble grey and blue interior complete the specification. In combination with glass Targa roof panel, the cabin in light, bright and a fabulous place to be.

The extensive history file supports a high level of continuous care and maintenance by all 7 owners. Unsurprisingly the Targa was placed three years running at Porsche Club GB regional Concours competitions in the mid-2000s – a true testament to its cossetted lifestyle.

It has been used and enjoyed, with road trips and European tours along the way. Paint readings suggest this is an unusually honest and original example, at a time when many 993s have undergone significant cosmetic work. We have therefore chosen to leave the few (inevitable) stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper in place to preserve that originality, along with the light wear to the seat bolsters. Overall, this Targa presents beautifully and is one we are very proud to put our name to.
