First registered in 1973, this Montreal is a truly special example. All Montreals are charming and intriguing in their own right, but this particular car has something extra.
In 2012, the car was entrusted to Alfaholics, who were instructed not simply to restore it, but to elevate it into a fast-road/show-quality machine. The result is an exceptionally well-executed build with a specification that sets it apart from the rest:
Specification Includes:
Full body restoration and repaint in the original Alfa Romeo orange.
Engine rebuilt to +50 BHP specification, including 2800cc conversion, forged high-compression pistons, ported heads, and upgraded cams
Electronic fuel injection and 3D-mapped ignition; injectors discreetly hidden beneath the original airbox and ECU mapped to fire the standard coils, retaining the period-correct appearance
Hydraulic power-steering conversion
Modern air-conditioning system
Alfaholics 4-pot brake kit with aluminium rear calipers
Alfaholics Montreal handling kit
Alfaholics stainless-steel sports exhaust
Xenon headlights
Modern Hi-Fi system with connectivity
Full leather seat retrim
Alcantara dashboard and centre-console conversion
All new lights and badges fitted; centre heart re-chromed
Since the Alfaholics restoration, the car has changed hands twice, with both subsequent owners maintaining it to a very high standard. The history file is extensive, containing a large portfolio of invoices from the restoration through to the present day.
We recently collected the car and covered over 200 miles in it. From our past experience with Montreals, this example is genuinely a cut above – quicker, sharper, and impressively comfortable over long distances.
