1999 BMW Z3M Coupe

Supplied new by Menzies Motors of Stirling in Estoril Blue with a two-tone blue/black leather interior with a contrasting black headlining, this S50-engined Z3M was first registered on New Year’s Day in 1999. In addition to the normal specification, it benefits from many options and a few upgrades including a Harman Kardon stereo with a multi-disc CD player, air-conditioning, M Sport steering wheel, electric glass tilt sunroof, electric front mirrors and windows, heated front seats and side airbags, internal net luggage guard, retractable load cover and the original toolkit remains in the boot.

The most recent keeper acquired this car some 16 months ago from an owner of 17 years (himself, a garage proprietor), during which time, it travelled fewer than 3,000 miles, though not without being maintained in top roadworthy condition and annually MOT’d. Ours is the S50-engined variant of Z3M with the same 321bhp from the E36 M3 and it is equipped with AC Schnitzer sports suspension, front splitter, and metal pedals.

The odometer today reads 36,050 miles, but a documented instrument cluster change by BMW when the car was young, in June 2000, confirms a mileage then of 20,903 miles, meaning total overall distance covered of 57,000 miles.

Further, at fewer than two years’ old, and showing just 24,629 miles, this Z3M Coupe had a full replacement engine by BMW in response to an issue with the conrod bearing shells which was discovered early in its life.  Being then a current-production car, BMW simply elected to implant a brand-new engine rather than attempting a repair. The engine present has therefore only actually propelled this car for 32,000 miles.

There truly is a lot to really appreciate about this car. Yes, there are a small handful of stone-chips low down at the front of the car, but none truly notable, and yes, the tyres are outdated now, however our price (itself modest compared to some competing cars publicly offered for sale) reflects a car which is shortly going to be fully serviced by a recognised local BMW Specialist and will be handed to new owner with a brand new full set of Kumho Ecsta Sport tyres, for good measure.
