Originally a 1600 GT XLR, this Capri was professionally rebuilt and prepared for the 2016 Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, in which it successfully competed. Constructed from a bare shell with extensive strengthening and proven mechanical upgrades, it represents a durable and well-engineered historic rally car built to survive one of the toughest endurance events in the world.


Shell & Fuel System

  • Fully seam-welded shell with strengthening plates and gussets at all suspension pick-up points
  • Custom-made rear suspension turrets for long 2¼” Bilstein dampers
  • Full-length alloy sump and gearbox guards
  • Custom alloy long-range fuel tank with twin electric pumps, float level, roll-over valve and breathers
  • Integrated LED work lights fitted beneath bonnet and in boot

Suspension, Steering & Brakes

  • 2.8 Capri front anti-roll bar
  • Genuine Ford adjustable TCAs, all bushes replaced with SuperPro polyurethane
  • Bilstein forged “Safari-spec” front struts with adjustable spring platforms
  • AP Racing AP4567 four-pot front callipers with competition discs
  • Competition Mintex pads and shoes front and rear
  • Bias pedal box with Girling master cylinders

Drivetrain & Cooling

  • Heavy-duty multi-core radiator with thermostatic twin fans
  • Ford 5-speed gearbox with heavy-duty “transport” gear kit
  • Heavy-duty competition clutch
  • Atlas rear axle re-tubed and modified with new 18-spline Gripper LSD, SKF bearings, and Squires 18-spline Safari-spec half-shafts
  • Genuine Ford 4.6:1 crown-wheel and pinion

Engine

  • 2.0-litre Ford Pinto built by Scholar Engineering (Essex)

  • Full multi-point roll cage
  • Dashboard adapted for Stack speedo, rev counter and auxiliary gauges
