Exterior
Beautifully finished in striking and iconic Tornado Red, this ultra-low mileage Quattro remains a superb example of Audi’s legendary rally-bred coupe. Its sharp 1980s lines and trademark box arches evoke the car’s competition pedigree, and the paintwork presents to a very high standard with only the lightest signs of age to note. The body is incredibly clean and straight throughout, with consistent panel fit and crystal-clear lights. Sitting on its original Ronal alloy wheels – freshly refurbished and wrapped in quality tyres – this Quattro is every bit as well presented as its reputation deserves.
Interior
Step inside the Quattro, and its interior immediately reflects the care and low mileage it has enjoyed. The graphite Eton flannel upholstery wraps the seats and door cards. The heated front seats remain supportive and free from any bolster wear, while the sculpted rear bench is equally pristine. The iconic digital dashboard lights up perfectly, bringing a touch of 1980s futurism to the cabin, and the original Blaupunkt Toronto cassette player is pleasingly still in place.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 2.2-litre turbocharged MB engine delivers smooth performance across the rev range, perfectly complemented by a tight and precise 5-speed gearbox. The engine bay is impressively clean and showing no signs of damage or past repairs. The signature 5-cylinder growl is amplified by a Milltek stainless steel exhaust system. Within the last few months an Audi specialist has carried out a range of repairs, including – but not limited to – replacement of the front and rear brake calipers, fuel pump, battery, timing belt and water pump, as well as fitting a new oil cooler, performing a full engine service, and completing an MOT. The work totalled just over £2k, providing real peace of mind for the next owner.
History File
This surely unrepeatable Ur Quattro was supplied new by Colborne Garages in August 1989 to its first owner, Mr Nowlan. It has been in the hands of 5 careful keepers in total, the current having owned it for the past 10 years. Within accompanying paperwork and history you’ll find the original VAG document pouch and manuals, the stamped service booklet, previous registration documents, tax discs, MOT certificates, and a raft of invoices for parts and servicing. A documented clock change was carried out by Audi in 1991 at 8,497 miles.
