“The hero of weekends; the rebel of the racetrack”.
That’s how Porsche themselves introduced us to the 981 Cayman GT4….
Developed by Porsche Motorsport in Weissach, just 2,500 981 GT4s were manufactured for the worldwide market – all came with a short-shift 6-speed manual ‘box.
Extra power comes courtesy of a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six, borrowed from its 911 big brother. Mid-mounted, delivering 385 hp to the rear wheels, aided by the Porsche Torque Vectoring system and its mechanical rear diff.
With a fully re-engineered chassis, the GT4 sits 30mm lower than standard, accompanied by PASM, PADM and PSM and arch-filling 20 inch platinum finished alloy wheels with wider tyres, sized for performance. 0-62 mph is dispatched in 4.4 seconds, with a top track speed of 184 mph.
This example, delivered in March 2016 by the Porsche Group Operations Centre in Reading, was optioned in GT silver metallic from the list of available Special exterior colours.
The interior features black leather and Alcantara, accented by Guards red contrast stitching and matching seat belts, door pulls and headrest embroidery. Trimmed with brushed aluminium highlights.
Optioned with the sought-after full Bucket seats (P11), reinforced with carbon fibre, electrically height adjustable.
PCM with navigation and mobile phone modules, digital radio and Porsche Sound Package Plus.
Two-zone climate control, Light Design Package, auto dimming mirrors and a rain sensor.
Supported by a Porsche main dealer full service history with stamps in 2018 (7,255 miles), 2020 (11,974 miles), 2022 (16,007 miles) and 2024 (17,819 miles).
Supplied with 2 colour-coded keys, book pack with service book and manuals, plus warranty.
Acclaimed by all those who drive it – celebrated by enthusiasts and praised by journalists alike, the GT4 is a Porsche not to be missed.
