The Ferrari California is often overlooked as just another entry-level Ferrari. But it is so much more than that, bringing innovations to the Ferrari range that still exist today. Not only was it the first road-going front-engined V8 the brand produced, but it was also the first model with a folding metal hard-top, 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and direct fuel injection.
In 2012, Ferrari updated their innovator by putting it on a 30-kilogram diet and pumping it up with an additional 30 BHP. The result was the California 30, a car that took an already impressive GT car into a near 200mph, continent-crushing cruiser.
This California 30 is finished in a gorgeous specification. The exterior is Blu Mirabeau, a classy shade that perfectly highlights the long, swooping Pininfarina lines. It sits on a set of 20” 5-spoke alloys that are finished in black with diamond cut faces and are wrapped in Pirelli rubber.
The interior is finished in Sabbia leather, unlike the more common Crema interiors; this sand colour adds a greater level of contrast. The seats themselves feature a unique X-stitched pattern, which we believe to have been an upgrade by a previous owner.
This car benefits from the small, but usable rear seats as a 2+2 specification car. The original head unit has been replaced with a Clarion item, which helps to bring the car into a more modern age.
Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4.3-litre F136 V8. The same engine as the base California, but in “30” guise, it produces 483 BHP. The V8 is paired to a 7-speed DCT transmission that allows the arrival of 60mph in just 3.8 seconds. So whilst this might primarily be a GT car, it is certainly no slouch.
This California has covered just 21,190 miles, and has had 5 owners. It has been regularly maintained both within the Ferrari main-dealer network and with specialists. The full records include:

Ferrari’s and most specifically, the Californias of this era, represent an excellent choice for those looking to get into Ferrari ownership. It’s by this point that Ferrari had nailed the usability and reliability aspects of their cars; no model represents that better than the California 30.
As with all our vehicles, an entire digital folder is available upon request and contains more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
