Ownership and Provenance and Early History

First registered in Johannesburg, the car remained with its original keeper for around sixteen years, used primarily as a holiday and weekend car. In 1983 it moved to Cape Town, where it stayed until being purchased in early 2024 by the current UK owner while visiting family. Today, it still carries elements of its South African past, including the dealer sticker and original factory hard top rear window.

Delivered in Nero with Skai Rosso trim, the car was professionally repainted Blue during its time in Cape Town. Matching numbers are retained across chassis and engine, and originality remains a strong feature, from the hard top to the additional rear bench seat fitted in its early life.

Mechanical Condition

Mechanically well-cared for, the Spider benefits from a documented gearbox overhaul in 2021 including a new clutch. Following import to the UK, further work was entrusted to Neville Byford, who addressed brakes, suspension, heater, instruments and interior details. The speedometer has been replaced with a correct unit by Melvyn Rutter Ltd, with mileage carefully recorded and photographed in the file.

A Highly Original Car Ready for the Road Today.
