Exterior

This beautiful Mk1 GTI was treated a no-expense-spared Crazy Quiffs restoration costing in the region of £60k. Ready to show, the car is entirely unmodified and has been fully restored in its factory colour and original 1.6 spec. Early stages of the refresh included stripping the body shell back to bare metal. Any areas showing signs of age were then professionally repaired before a fresh coat of jet black was applied to the exterior, underside, and engine bay. Brand new bumpers, rubbers, trims, etc. were then fitted to ensure a collector-quality finish throughout. The paintwork itself presents to a very impressive standard with a deep, smooth shine and no swirl marks having just received a full machine polish on arrival at 4 Star. The wheels were also refurbished and shod in new Dunlop rubber.

Interior

Despite the car’s extensive restoration work carried out from 2021-2023, the interior was largely untouched to retain as much originality as possible. In fact, with the exception of a subtle Blaupunkt DAB radio, everything looks just as it would have done back in 1982. The original striped sports seats are well preserved with no bolster wear or damage, and both the steering wheel and gear knob are excellent. New headlining was installed when the car was meticulously put back together but the parcel shelf is original and again undamaged.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Having had both the engine and gearbox fully rebuilt and finished with either new or completely reconditioned ancillaries, the mechanicals of the Golf are excellent. Clearly just as much care and attention was paid to the engine bay and underside as it was to the bodywork because everything looks absolutely first-rate. The entirety of the work carried out is well documented in the accompanying Crazy Quiffs invoices (totalling in excess of £59k) but for additional peace of mind a full vehicle health check and MOT test have just been completed.
