A Rare UK-Delivered Ferrari with Collector Provenance
Originally registered in October 1981, this 308 GTBi was acquired in 1989 via Graypaul Ferrari by an Italian collector, who retained it for the next 35 years. Unsatisfied with the car’s fuel injection character, he opted for a professionally executed conversion to carburettors using Ferrari parts. The attention to detail included a revised camshaft, inlet manifold, distributor, ignition packs, oil pump pick-up and twin fuel pumps. Importantly, all original injection components were retained and are included in the sale.
Mechanical Restoration and Intelligent Modifications
While in long-term dry storage, the engine was fully rebuilt using new internal components including bearings, belts, and gaskets. The engine remains un-run-in. In the past 28 months, the braking and suspension systems were also refreshed—covering caliper seals, driveshaft bellows, and the refurbishment of both electric window motors—ensuring the car’s mechanical readiness

Paint and Presentation
A bare-metal respray and professional detailing were carried out ahead of the car’s return to the road. The Rosso Corsa finish presents well overall, though light rust is appearing at the lower edges of both doors. The Crema interior remains in very good order, and the car’s electrical systems are fully operational, apart from the air conditioning which requires a re-gas following work on the radiators.
Usability and Accompanied Items
Alongside the 27,490 recorded miles and retained originality, this 308 offers real-world usability thanks to its well-executed carburettor conversion. The car is sold with a spare set of original wheels and the complete original fuel injection system, offering flexibility for future owners. With careful running-in, the rebuilt engine and sorted mechanicals promise the characteristic engagement these early V8 Berlinettas are appreciated for.
The 308 GTBi is gaining recognition as a true successor to the Dino 246 GT, and right-hand drive examples are seldom found with such provenance, low mileage, and mechanical integrity. This example sits at the ideal intersection of collector appeal and driving enjoyment. To arrange a viewing or discuss the car in more detail, please get in touch with Tom Hardman Limited
