We are delighted to offer for sale a unique and currently rare opportunity to acquire this 1985 Porsche 911 Targa.

Replacing the 911 SC, and first introduced in the 1984, this generation Targa joined Porsche’s lineup alongside the coupe and the cabriolet. With the previous generation SC and this car being externally and aesthetically almost identical, the key differences were wheels and fog lights. They were the poster child for 1980s excess, with city elite and stockbrokers lining up to secure their place on the order books.

The key difference with the Carrera generation was under the bonnet. With the 3.0 in the SC being upgraded to the 3.2 being bored with use of new crankshaft, higher domed pistons and upgraded inlet manifold and exhaust. This gave a power output of 237bhp, and a tested 0-60 of under 6 seconds. Fuel economy, reliability and refinement were also improved with upgrades to the ECU and electronics as well as the cooling system.

This particular car is a genuine UK vehicle, first registered on the 11th April 1985. Finished in arguably one of the best colours of Meteor Metallic, 7 former keepers from new, low miles and totally HPI clear this offers in our opinion a fantastic base to create a very special car. B577 FAM will require some works to get up to exacting standards - details of which are included in the condition summary below, however, the scarcity of this generation is now apparent, and the history and provenance allow an enthusiast to make their mark going forward.

SUMMARY AND CONDITION

As a package this offers a very desirable example of a generation defining 911. Finished in a wonderful colour combination and offering originality and low miles, backed by a comprehensive service history, condition wise, even from a modest distance it presents well and is aesthetically clean. In close inspection you will see the car is in need of the common kidney bowl replacement, and there are areas of possible welding and corrosion. Depending on a new custodians plans, you could opt to locally repair and detail and use as it is, or take the option to restore on a deeper level. The price reflects this however. Mechanically the car starts, stops, drives as it should and sounds healthy. It has clearly been well cared for over its 40 year cycle.
