A delightful UK supplied and original righthand drive 1977 911 Carrera 3.0 in Metallic Red with beautifully upholstered ‘check’ interior, sport package, and Fuchs style wheels.

This car was formerly a West Country resident and was cherished by one gentleman there from 1985 to 2013. Shortly after him, the next keeper undertook the complete repaint in Metallic Red to a high standard and had the car lightly recommissioned mechanically.  Some short while later, the car began a life in Lancashire and went on to be further developed for road use, all the while still showing fewer than 80,000 miles.

Investment of some £6,000 in the period to mid-2016 saw replacement crank cases, new cam shaft & carrier on bank 1-3, replacement head studs and cleaned oil ways to improve performance on the road. Still with only 79,000 miles, the car would soon after join most recent ownership where gear linkage replacement, light oil-leak rectification, replacement cam covers, upgrades to rocker shaft, high-torque lightweight starter motor and eventual top-end engine rebuild would all be conducted, the latter by Redline Racing of Stockton-on-Tees in March 2023, this alone costing £3,600.

Just prior to now being offered for sale, the brake discs, pads and handbrake cables have all been replaced, meaning we can offer this car with confidence to comfortably repeat many more memorable trips to destinations such as Classic Le Mans as enjoyed by our friend, the vendor.

The Carrera 3.0 is undoubtedly a rare beast in the pantheon of Porsche, with just a reputed 3,691 models manufactured from the Zuffenhausen factory between 1976 and 1977. Performance figures reveal some 200bhp at 6000rpm which claims a 0-60mph time of just 6.3 seconds with a nominal top speed of over 145mph…. We haven’t tested this theory on public roads, but can confirm it’s amply fast enough especially with your bum practically touching the tarmac beneath you!
