A beautiful coachbuilt 2+2 Lancia with a fascinating history.

HISTORY

This Flaminia was supposedly used for a few years then laid up by its reclusive owner in the 1970s after suffering engine woes. Discovered in a barn in Maryland USA in 2002 engineless and vandalised. The next owner was one of the lawyers tasked with identifying various properties of the now deceased owner and after discovering the car asked to purchase it in lieu of payment. The lawyers wife, who was also working on the deceased estate, found an envelope with ‘Lancia’ written on it. Inside was an invoice for $450 dated 27 years earlier for works to the engine and carburettor. The new owner found the location of the old workshop that had since been developed into residential property and asked the lady living there if she knew the whereabouts of the previous proprietor and the engine – she answered ‘yes he is here and the Lancia engine is in the garage!’ The 93 year old mechanic came to the door and asked the new owner to settle the $450 bill and then the engine was his – and as such this car is now, miraculously reunited with its original engine!

This car was sold on around 2010 and fully restored in Mexico which is fully documented with paperwork (in Spanish) and photographs in the large binder that comes with the car. In 2015 the car was sold to a dealer in the UK and registered here. The UK V5C shows 2 previous owners, one of those the import agent. The car was featured at the 2016 Goodwood Revival where it received an award from Sir Sterling Moss, with photographic evidence. We have a file full of invoices all from Lancia UK specialist Omicron for both the Mexican rebuild and UK maintenance. Please note this car was originally white. 88,130kms (54,700miles).
