Pendine is delighted to offer this 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Roadster, a restored matching-numbers example, now converted to right-hand drive. Finished in opalescent dark grey over black trim, this car retains much of its original character while benefiting from a restoration.
Originally sold in March 1967 by Jaguar Cars, New York, this E-Type was acquired as a restoration project from Joop Stolze in Holland approximately 12 years ago. The previous owner dedicated significant time and effort to sourcing original parts, scouring auto jumbles to ensure authenticity throughout the restoration. Over an 18-month period, the car was carefully brought back to its former glory by the owner’s personal mechanic, prioritising the repair of major components over outright replacement.
The restoration included extensive structural and mechanical work, with new floors, inner and outer sills, boot floor, and door skins. A new zinc-plated petrol tank, boot cards, Hardura lining, and a ply boot floor were installed. Mechanically, the car benefits from an engine and gearbox rebuild, along with a new stainless steel exhaust, electronic fuel pump, brake and fuel lines, clutch slave and master cylinder, water pump, servo, brake master cylinder, and head gasket. Additionally, the radius arm bushes and heater box were replaced.
The conversion to right-hand drive was completed using new panels and floors for both sides. The interior has been completely retrimmed to a high standard, complementing the car’s aesthetics.
Importantly, many original components were carefully preserved and reconditioned, including the bonnet, boot, door frames, and seat frames. The majority of the original chrome has been re-chromed, with select new chrome items added where necessary. The car remains on its rare original Dunlop wire wheels, staying true to its period-correct appearance.
Further refinements include a reconditioned radiator, starter motor, brake callipers (with stainless steel insets for the rear), heater control, badge bar, and both front and rear lights. The result is a car that seamlessly blends originality with sypathetic restoration, ensuring enjoyment for its next custodian.
This stunning E-Type is now available for viewing and demonstration at Pendine’s Bicester Heritage showroom.
