Exterior
Of the 422 UK right-hand drive M3 CSLs produced, just 106 were finished in striking Black Sapphire. With only 51k miles under its belt, the paintwork on this particular car is quite simply excellent with little more than a dusting of light frontal stone chips to report on close inspection. The lightweight carbon roof is free from any scratches or lacquer damage and looking along both sides of the car there are absolutely no car park dings or marks. The entire body has just been treated to a full machine polish, so it’s completely swirl-free with a very deep and uniform shine. Filling the arches are the original 19-inch CSL wheels, all in perfect order having previously been refurbished to the highest standard by Lepsons.
Interior
Trimmed in soft Amaretta synthetic suede and Reflex cloth, the CSL-specific fibreglass racing seats present in superb unworn condition. The upholstery still feels notably fresh, including the outer bolsters, and the rear seats are similarly excellent. Grippy Alcantara extends to the steering wheel which is again unmarked. There is no damage or wear to any of the carbon fibre panels, the switchgear is perfect and fully functional, and even the scratch-prone centre console trims are immaculate. All in all, a highly impressive and original interior still equipped with the factory velour floor mats.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The CSL’s S54 had an increased output over the standard E46 M3 by 17hp. This was due to the sharper profile camshafts, a larger air intake with a carbon fibre manifold, and refinement of the exhaust manifold. In line with the low mileage the engine bay is very well presented. The car is complemented by a meticulous service history having only ever been looked after by either BMW or BMW M specialists. The last service was an Inspection II carried out in January 2025 at the current mileage of just 51k. The car is entirely unmodified other than the sensible addition of high-performance AP Racing front brakes.
History File
First registered in April 2004 this beautiful Black Sapphire CSL is one of only 422 UK cars. The accompanying history file is complete with the original CSL document wallet with all manuals, the fully stamped service booklet, a thick raft of BMW main dealer and BMW M specialist invoices, an original CSL sales brochure, and a set of spare keys. A simply stunning example of the lauded M3 CSL in the rarest colour option, boasting low mileage and a comprehensive maintenance record.
