Exterior

Of the 2,891 RS2s built in collaboration with Porsche, just 180 were produced in right-hand drive. Better still, this particular example has driven a remarkably low 54k miles from new. Finished in Ragusa Metallic the car has a clean, unpretentious appearance and in line with the mileage, the condition is stunning. The dark green paintwork presents with a magnificent depth of shine and all the trims are excellent – our studio photos really don’t do it justice. The headlights are crystal clear and other than one discreet hairline crack in the original reflector panel, the rear clusters are first-rate. Looking along both sides of the car the panels are straight with perfect shut lines and we’re pleased to report that the underside also remains in very good solid condition.

Interior

Trimmed in soft napa leather and laced with carbon fibre, the RS2’s cabin is a fantastic place to be. Inside, occupants are treated to body-hugging Recaro sports seats with deep, supportive bolsters – perfect for holding you in place out on those twisty B-roads. Having never been re-connolised the original upholstery remains in exquisite condition, still feeling notably supple with only a few expected creases and wrinkles to evidence its age. The leather on the steering wheel and gear knob is also topnotch with a great texture and no major shine. Glancing across the dash the switchgear and plastics are almost entirely unmarked, and everything works as it should including the air conditioning, electric seat adjustments, and additional driver gauges. The rear seats appear to have seen little use and the boot area is also very tidy with the original load cover still present.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Modified by Porsche in their Rossle-Bau factory in Zuffenhausen, Audi’s 2.2-litre 5-cylinder engine was upgraded with a larger turbo, a heavy-duty intercooler, higher flow injectors, a newly designed camshaft, a more efficient induction system, a low-pressure exhaust, and a specially modified ECU. This resulted in 311hp and a blistering 0-60 time of just 4.8 seconds in conjunction with the 6-speed manual box and quattro four-wheel drive system. The brakes and suspension were also enhanced with Porsche-designed components.

Clearly a cherished example since new this low mileage UK-supplied RS2 is accompanied by an excellent maintenance record. The service book is stamped with 18 entries not including the most recent specialist service carried out in September 2023 only 1,300 miles ago. Lifting the bonnet, the engine bay is very clean, tidy, and original with no signs of any accident damage or previous poor repair. She fires up first turn of the key and idles up to temperature without fuss.

History File

Very tastefully spec’d in Ragusa Metallic over black, this beautiful example was first registered in April 1995. Within the accompanying History File the lucky new owner will receive the original Audi leather document wallet with all handbooks, the original stamped service book, a raft of invoices and MOT certificates, three spare keys, and the current V5C showing 7 former keepers.
