In 1985 the desirable M491 Supersport Equipment (SSE) option became available. A new car could be specified from the factory with full turbo bodywork, brakes, and suspension but without the turbo. This model was known as the Carrera Supersport, and just 226 RHD examples came to the UK, of these only around 15 were specified in Targa form, making this a very rare, collectible air cooled 911. Our car was originally supplied by Gordon Ramsay Ltd the official Porsche centre in Newcastle on the 1st August 1987. Finished in the stunning combination of Venetian Blue paintwork with contrasting Red interior. Known as option code M491, the costly Supersport package offered aggressive wider wheel arches, rear spoiler and wider Fuchs wheels, it also included upgraded brakes and sports suspension taken directly from the 911 Turbo. The option to upgrade to M491 had a £10,000 premium over the standard 3.2 Carrera at the time.

Our car was professionally restored in 2015 by marque specialists Norfolk Premier Coachworks. This included a complete strip down, metalwork repairs including new sills, kidney bowls, rear quarters and a high quality repaint in the original colour. Invoices are on file for this work totalling over £20,000. At the same time the 3.2 flat six engine was removed, checked over and received a top end rebuild. The car still presents superbly today, with just the smallest of cosmetic marks conducive with age. The car drives very well, with everything working as it should. The refurbished 16 inch Fuchs are shod in matching Continental tyres, all with over 6mm of tread remaining. Supplied with the original stamped service book, 2 keys, jack and folder detailing the service history and restoration invoices.
