Bristol 411 Srs IV

Factory restoration & other notable upgrades

43.000 mls since

Just under fifteen years since first registered in December 1973, her owner Mr Stopford of the Advertising Agency Geers Gross Ltd of London, took her back to Bristol Motorcars for a full renovation, after only 73.647 miles had been covered

He spent £ 30.000 (a new Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit was £ 90.000 - so this was the equivalent of about £ 150.000 in todays' money) which included a full mechanical rebuild, with new rebuilt engine and gearbox, all wood work refurbished, new carpets, headlining and a full interior retrim in Connolly hides - beige VM 3234, electric seats ( as per Blenheim ), electric mirrors, radio / stereo, new tryes & steel wheels, modified wipers to incorporate intermittent setting and the steering wheel trimmed in hide

The speedo was reset to zero at this time

Within 2 years Mr Stopford had sold the motorcar as evidenced by an advert in SuperCar Classic in January 1990, and the next owner we can find is Mr Dean, from Hertfordshire, who kept her from the mid nineties until the late teens

She has been looked after extremely well, with various further invoices from Bristol Cars, amongst others, including another Factory refit in 2006, and a replacement 408cu (6686cc) engine with 375bhp / 425 ft lbs torque in 2008, a set of front headrests, uprated suspension, Overdrive 4 speed automatic gearbox and Blenheim III alloy wheels

The speedo has not been changed since the rebuilt in 1988 which now sits at 43.000 miles since then

The last owner, a regular at Graeme Hunt Ltd, has entrusted her care to us in the last few years, whilst we have stored for him

Last service was by us in June 2024 - we have had a few Bristol's in our time, and this is one of the nicest we have had the pleasure of enjoying

A Bristol specialist wrote in 2012, 'this is a very fine example of a 411, with outstanding condition, documented mileage and full case history covering all regular maintenance and major refurbishment programmes in 1988 and another in 2006, both at Bristol Cars Ltd"

We couldn't have stated it better - she drives incredibly tightly on the road, sure footed in the corners, accelerating with great zest and maintaining cruising speeds way above the national speed limit.............
