This distinctive classic is one to treasure.

Low mileage, low owners, US supplied; this 911 S is pure 1976 nostalgia. You only have to drive it to know it is something quite special.

Whilst it retains so much originality, subtle upgrades have ensured this is a truly usable and enjoyable 911.

Many 911 of this era will have been restored, rebuilt and repainted, but this one has never required any such treatment. So much appears to be original, it is a very honest, accident and corrosion free example.

The Oak green metallic paintwork is in great condition, the light patina consistent with 48 years of care and polish.

The chromework, including the factory fitted ‘Option 418’ trim around the wheel arches, is in exceptional condition; it looks brand new.

Original spec 15 inch ‘Cookie Cutter’ ATS alloy wheels, recently refurbished and fitted with Pirelli tyres (June 2023.)

The Cork coloured interior is a great contrast to the dark green exterior. Everything appears in lovely original condition; the dashboard is crack-free, there’s no obvious wear and tear to the switches and knobs and the instrument dials are crystal clear.

Tidy carpets and headlining, with a functioning electric sunroof. The front seats are great, having been recovered some years ago.

More recently, the addition of electronic air conditioning, plus an exceptional suspension upgrade have established this cool 911 as a very capable UK and European cruiser.

The 2.7 litre air cooled 6 cylinder is the ‘US 49 State’ type 911/82, and is believed to be the original, as is the 5 speed gearbox.

First registered in 1976, the story of this 911 S suggests it spent most of its life in Nebraska. The second owner purchased it late in 1979 with 28,356 miles recorded. He kept it for over 30 years but covered very few miles. It was recommissioned following a period of inactivity, the clutch was renewed, and the fuel system refurbished.

It was then purchased from a third keeper by Adrian Crawford in 2015, and imported to the UK. A friend took over the reins in 2017, and the current keeper in 2023. The odometer now reads 50,324 miles.

These ‘mid year’ cars perfectly capture the classic Porsche spirit and are becoming ever more desirable amongst collectors worldwide.

Offering a unique soundtrack and lively performance from the magnesium 2.7, coupled with an elegant narrow-body and great chrome detailing, it appeals on so many levels.
