Exterior

Interlagos Blue was a CS-only paint option and on this one it’s paired with striking Cinnamon leather. Although not 100% flawless the condition of the car is very good and is much more in line with that of a lower mileage example. The paintwork is deeply glossy and presents to a great standard with no off-colour panels, the trims are first-rate, and the headlights are nice and clear. There is a dusting of stone chips and small age-related marks to evidence the car’s honesty but little else to detract from its overall impressive finish. Filling the arches are the original Competition Pack CSL design alloy wheels, all in excellent kerb-free condition with Michelin PS4 tyres all round.

Interior

The Cinnamon upholstery looks sensational against the blue paint, and much like the exterior of the car it’s in remarkably good order. Still notably soft and supple the Nappa leather seats appear to have seen only half the mileage. There is minimal wear to the driver’s bolster and the electric adjustments are all fully functional. BMWs of this vintage have a tendency to pick up a few interior scratches but in this example the plastic trims are excellent, not entirely unmarked but in very nice original condition. The Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel also retains a great feel and texture, and in the footwells you’ll find the original velour overmats.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The engine bay remains in very good original order with no modifications or signs of accident damage. The S54 straight six performs particularly well with that intoxicating straight six rasp and, paired with the SMG transmission, it makes for an engaging and thrilling drive. In 2019 the engine was treated to a pre-emptive rod bearing upgrade, and after a recent Inspection II service at the current mileage she’s as tight as a drum to drive. The underside of the car has also been inspected and remains in good order with no cracking issues to boot floor/subframe area.
