2018/68 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera in Onyx Black over Obsidian Black Hide.

Registered new in November 2018, this DBS was clearly specified with no budget in mind; with a list price just shy of £260k.

As we present this car, it’s hard to find another example in this price range that matches the level of additional equipment this one offers.

The striking Onyx Black exterior is enhanced with Aston Martin’s ‘Q’ gloss black tinted exterior pack, carbon roof strakes, smoked tail lights, and black brake calipers, perfectly complementing the forged Y-spoke satin/gloss black alloys. Additionally, the front end, including the leading edge of the A-pillars, is protected with paint protection film (PPF).

Inside, the cabin is adorned with the highly sought-after Bang & Olufsen BeoSound system—an essential upgrade that significantly enhances the driving experience. While the DBS’s glorious V12 soundtrack is undeniable, the BeoSound system, which was not as commonly specified on this model as it was on its predecessor, adds a remarkable audio dimension. This upgrade came at a substantial cost of £5,495.

Post-delivery, the original dealer installed Apple CarPlay, a rare and valuable feature since it wasn’t standard at the time, despite being available to manufacturers since 2016.

Another distinctive interior feature is the Satin Chopped Carbon trim, a more exclusive and expensive option compared to the standard carbon weave. This unique trim extends to the seatbacks, adding an extra touch of sophistication rarely seen in other DBS models.

The seats offer ventilation in addition to standard heating, with power-operated bolster adjustment and wing embroidery on the headrests. The exquisite ‘Geode Quilting’ further distinguishes this interior, offering a level of craftsmanship that sets it apart from the rest.

While color preference is subjective, there’s something undeniably compelling about the all-black Aston Martin aesthetic. Having handled numerous sales of various Aston Martin models, we’ve observed that this stealthy black-on-black configuration is favored by many, offering a timeless appeal with minimal resale concerns. This example avoids any garish touches — the wheels, calipers, stitching, and headliner are all black, with only the Superleggera and wing badges in silver.

The car’s history is straightforward and reassuring. It was supplied new by HWM, who later sold it to our client in 2023. At that time, a 2-year warranty extension was included, making this a 2-owner vehicle. HWM has meticulously serviced the car and performed the Apple CarPlay upgrade. The warranty remains valid for the incoming buyer until April 2025.

The original Aston Martin DBS was introduced in 1967 as a successor to the DB6. It featured a striking design, courtesy of Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, and was powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six engine. The DBS gained popularity and recognition when it was featured in the James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” in 1969.

The DBS Superleggera revives the iconic “DBS” name, which has a rich history within Aston Martin’s lineup.

The original DBS was introduced in the late 1960s as a successor to the DB6, combining Aston Martin’s luxurious grand touring tradition with a more muscular, aggressive design.

The “Superleggera” badge, meaning “super light” in Italian, is a nod to Aston Martin’s historic collaboration with Carrozzeria Touring, an Italian coachbuilder known for lightweight construction techniques.

In 2007, Aston Martin revived the DBS nameplate for a new generation of vehicles. The modern DBS was first seen in the 2006 James Bond film “Casino Royale,” where it was driven by Daniel Craig’s 007. The DBS received critical acclaim for its powerful performance, luxurious interior, and stunning design.

The modern DBS Superleggera was launched in 2018 as Aston Martin’s flagship model, succeeding the Vanquish S. The car was designed to be the ultimate expression of Aston Martin’s design and engineering prowess, offering a more extreme and performance-focused alternative to the DB11, which shares its platform.
