Chassis 84544 was supplied through Hoffmans, New York in 1958 specified in Ivory with a Red leather interior and optioned with sealed beam headlights and USA bumpers. Hoffmans were the biggest importers of Porsches in the world, one third of Porsche’s production was sold by Hoffmans in the 1950s and 1960s. Our car was retained by its original owner from San Diego, California until his retirement when he sold it, after being in storage from 1971, to famed Porsche enthusiast, collector and racer George Valerio in Lincoln, California. Having spoken with George myself about this car he explained that he looked at many other Speedsters but wanted a car with the best body possible, George has kindly sent over images of when we carried out a complete restoration of the car in his own workshop Eurosport Porsche. George kept the car until 2012 when he sold it European Collectibles in Costa Mesa, California who are arguably the world leading experts in Porsche 356s, they supplied the car to its current owner where the car is offered from now. The car remains fully matching numbers, original colour combination and is in pristine condition throughout, right down to fine details others miss such as the correct German square weave carpets, triple plated chrome work and original instruments.
Complete with its Porsche certificate of authenticity which confirms the car is matching numbers, Kardex, Owner’s manual, tool roll, Bilstein, jack-kit, spare keys, original matching Rudge wheels and history file. An exceptional and reference example with documented 4-owners from new.
