EXTERIOR

This lovely V8 E39 presents very tastefully in Biarritz Blue over beige. The paintwork has just been treated to a full polish and presents to a good standard with no signs of corrosion in any of the common E39 weak spots. A keen eye may notice a few mall marks and paint defects in line with the age but otherwise it’s a very straight example. The original Hella headlights are clear and moisture-free, and the plastic trims are unfaded. The exterior of the car is lifted further with 17-inch alloy wheels and factory Shadowline trim.

INTERIOR

The condition of the interior is excellent. The steering wheel, centre console, dashboard and door cards are all in fine order. The comfortable sports seats are well presented with only minor wear and the switchgear is free from any major scratches. The cabin is laced with glossy wood inlays, all of which are unmarked, and in the footwells the complementing cream carpets are clean with a fresh set of overmats. There are no dead pixel issues on the central led display and everything works as it should including the digital climate control AC and electric glass sunroof.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

At the heart of the 540i is the 4.4-litre M62 V8 producing an impressive 282hp. The engine bay is notably tidy with no damage to any of the components or signs of previous poor repair. Under current ownership the car has been treated to a mechanical overhaul with invoices in the paperwork totalling in excess of £10k. The last service was carried out by a well-regarded marque specialist in March 2023 at 47,862 miles. For the new keeper’s peace of mind the car has just been fully checked over by our local BMW specialist and further benefits from a new radiator, fan belt, and AC drive belt.
