2019 BMW M2 Competition

At the end of 2015, BMW introduced us to the spiritual successor of the 1M Coupe…….the M2. The ethos of the baby M car was to provide a simplified and accessible entry point to the BMW M range whilst at the same time endearing itself to the purist’s vices which had originally made the 1M Coupe such an undisputed success.

In 2018 and following the hugely positive feedback for the initial M2, BMW decided to turn the heat up a notch by implanting it with the twin turbo engine out of the M4, strengthening the chassis to increase rigidity and further developing the electronic rear differential and stability control. The finished product was the M2 Competition….a car whose true triumph has been allowing it to grow from teenager to young adult without losing the characteristics which brought us to love it in the first place.

INVESTMENT THESIS

First registered in March 2019, this stunning BMW M2 Competition finished in Hockenheim Silver with Black Dakota leather has covered 45,100 miles from new with full BMW service history.

The specification on the car is comprehensive featuring M2 Plus Pack (which includes 19" M Y-spoke style 788 M Wheels with Dark Finish, Sun Protection Glass, Icon Adaptive Headlights and Harman Kardon Hi Fi), Apple CarPlay, Enhanced Bluetooth Telephone Prep with Wireless Charging, Reversing Assist Camera, Folding Side Mirrors with Anti Dazzle, Front Heated Seats, Heated Steering Wheel and High Beam Assistant. The car also benefits from a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres which have covered around 500 miles.

With the introduction of BMW’s twin turbo S55 engine, stiffer chassis and a host of internal and external cosmetic tweaks, there is a notable refinement to the M2 driving experience. What’s more, with greater optionality in the driving modes, you gain the ability to personalise the setup in a way which was previously only available to the M2’s bigger brothers; the M3/4 and M5.

The new engine pulls beautifully from low revs and with the twin turbo setup, not only is turbo lag eradicated but the motor wants to rev with a greater urgency and freedom as you approach the red line versus the previous single turbo variant. What’s more, the new sports seats allow for a more holistic driving experience in comparison to the original M2. The real party piece of the M2 Competition has been its ability to develop over the original M2 whilst maintaining all of the playful quirks and characteristics which made the original car so great in the 1st place.
