This attractive 365 GT 2+2 was originally ordered from the factory in early 1970 by main agents Crepaldi of Milan, finished in Azzurro Hyperion coachwork with Nero VM8500 hides and first registered on Friday 24th July to first owner Mr Dal Masso with registration ‘MIL 29417’.
Constructed with power windows and air conditioning and being a late production example meant it was also fitted with electric quarter windows and Cromodora alloy wheels, as fitted to the 365 GTB/4 Daytona of the period.
Copies of the Italian libretto within the history file indicate the first owner retained the Ferrari for over thirty years until 2001 when it was sold to the second owner, Mrs Bonometti, a resident of Brescia. The Ferrari would remain in Brescia in 2013, passing through the hands of two further custodians before it was imported to the UK and subsequently UK registered on 4th October of that year.
During the previous ownership between 2013-17, the Ferrari was maintained by Midlands based specialists MDS Services who carried out various work including overhauling the carburettors, valve clearances, repacking worn camshaft rollers, overhauling the petrol tanks, gearbox overhaul, torque tube rebuild, replacement clutch and release bearing plus various detailing to the engine bay.
Acquired by the vendor in February 2017, the Ferrari has been used for high days and holidays, with maintenance by leading Ferrari specialists GTO Engineering and Barkaways. Invoices retained on file show GBP 7600 was spent in December 2019 at Barkaways which included replacement of the rear suspension self level unit amongst various service items. More recently the 365 GT was serviced by Barkaways in May 2021 and has covered nominal mileage since.
This highly original and well preserved example drives extremely well and recent road test showed the car to perform exactly as expected, providing miles of smiles with the wonderful howl that only V12 Ferrari engines produce. Supplied with comprehensive history file containing copies of the original Italian registration, various service and sundry invoices, UK V5, owners handbooks and tool rolls, the 365 GT 2+2 can genuinely fit four adults in comfort and style and is therefore the most practical of all 1960s Ferrari models.
