The BMW Z8 - The modern collectors car
In 1993 Eberhard von Kuenheim, the director of BMW at the time, was having a retirement business trip to St Tropez with the rest of the board of directors. Each of the board members had brought different models of BMW that he oversaw the production of as his time as the director of the board. One of the other directors brought the BMW 507, the stunning roadster from the 1950’s. Everyone fell in love with the roadster, they all preferred its looks and driving style over the rest of the cars that were there. So they decided to make a new one and the BMW Z8 was born. The car features a 4.9 litre V8 from the BMW M5 which is producing near 400bhp and will propel the Z8 from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. The car comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox, a limited slip differential, 50/50 weight distribution due to the engine sitting behind the front wheels.
